Tentative Payment Schedule
* First Payment -- $300 dollars due with registration by December 15, 2009.
* Second Payment -- $1,500 due by February 1, 2010.

Price includes:
- Round-trip air transportation from Los Angeles to Madrid in high season departure on a regularly scheduled airline such as Lufthansa, Air Spain, American Airlines/Iberia or another airline in economy class, apex ticket.
- 27 nights home-stay accommodation in Spain (based on sharing double occupancy and shared facilities) plus three nights at 3-star hotel in Andalusia (two in Granada, one in Cordoba), sharing a twin bedded room with private facilities.
- Six meals (welcome and farewell dinner, gypsy cave dinner and flamenco show and three breakfasts [on Andalusia excursion]).
- Escorted transfers, tours and excursions from Madrid, as detailed in this proposal.
- Assistance of on-site coordinator in Madrid.
- Four weeks Spanish instruction, 20 hours a week, 4 hours a day, five days a week at Madrid based institute.
- One month Madrid public transportation pass.
- Service charges and taxes as related to accommodations and restaurants.
- Custom-designed Study in Spain handbook.
Price does not include:
- LBCC course registration fees
- Air related taxes, currently about $300
- Passport fees
- Travel insurance (baggage, cancellation or accident)
- Medical insurance
- Customary gratuity to tour director and motor coach driver
- All other items not specifically listed

Day 1- Depart from the United States
Today you depart from the Los Angeles International Airport for Europe on Lufthansa or United.
Day 2 - Madrid, Spain
Change planes at the airline’s hub such as Frankfurt or Munich depending on chosen airline and routing. Arrive in Madrid this afternoon or evening. Meet our representative and transfer to your accommodations. Welcome meeting this evening. Dinner included.
Day 3 - Madrid
City tour of Madrid this morning by private motor coach and with local guide, including inside visit to the Palacio Real. You are free the remainder of the day for independent exploration.
Day 4 - Day 28 Madrid
In Madrid you will have four weeks of Spanish instruction, Monday through Friday, four hours per day at the Madrid Inforex language institute. Classroom instruction will be enhanced by additional tours within Madrid as well as excursions outside of the city including: Segovia, Toledo, Segobriga and Cuenca, and a four-night excursion to Andalusia. |

Day 29 - Return to the United States
Say “adiós” to Madrid this morning as you transfer to the Madrid Airport for the return flight to Los Angeles. |

Cultural Excursions & Visits
After class hours, the institute frequently organizes recreational and cultural activities that allow students to discover the city of Madrid, its landmarks and its history. All excursions are escorted and professionally guided. Visits to the major museums with all entrance fees are included in the program cost. Additional excursions to Granada, Córdoba, Toledo, Cuenca, and Segovia are also included. |

| Accommodation & Transportation |

Madrid: home-stay accommodation including two meals a day; single rooms available at single room supplement; shared facilities.
On Andalusia excursion: three nights at 3-star hotel, price per person sharing a twin bedded room with private facilities, taxes and breakfast.
Participants will be provided with round-trip air transportation on regularly scheduled airline such as Lufthansa or United from Los Angeles to Madrid in economy class, peak season, weekend travel, apex ticket.

| Inforex, where classes are held, is an accredited and highly-qualified language institute. Instructors have university degrees and many years of teaching experience. Classes are kept small to create a better learning environment. |

| Financial Aid |
Financial aid and scholarships are available for Long Beach City College students.
The deadline to apply for a scholarship is December 2009.

Prof. Ingrid Wollank |
The Madrid Study Abroad Program will be conducted by Professor Ingrid Wollank, professor of Spanish and German at Long Beach City College. Professor Wollank grew up in southern Germany and Spain. She studied history and literature at the University of Zaragoza, Spain, and holds the equivalent of an MA degree in Applied Linguistics from the University of Heidelberg, Germany.
Professor Wollank came to the U.S. as a post-graduate Fulbright scholar to study pre-Columbian art history at the University of Texas in Austin. She also earned an MA degree in Spanish from the University of California, Irvine, where she also completed graduate work in German. Professor Wollank has been a full-time professor at LBCC for 20 years, although her teaching career spans more than twenty five years in the U.S. and abroad. In the past, she has conducted successful study abroad programs in Salzburg, Austria, Madrid, Spain, and Berlin, Germany in addition to guiding tours through Spain and Portugal. She is an experienced traveler and spends almost every summer in Europe. |
