PROGRAM PRICE: $4,350
(based on double-occupancy)

* Registration (with a deposit of $300) by December 15, 2007 will assure your space in the program.

Tentative Payment Schedule

* First Payment -- $300 dollars due with registration by December 15, 2007.
* Second Payment -- $1,500 due by February 29, 2008.
* Final Payment -- Balance due by April 10, 200

  • Round trip economy air transportation Los Angeles to Madrid with a major airline.
  • 4 weeks of Spanish language instruction
  • 28 nights accommodation with host family or 1st class hotels during excursions.
  • A total of 54 meals: 28 breakfasts, 28 dinners

 Itinerary-at-a-glance


Day 1: Friday, May 30 – Depart from the United States
Today you depart from the Los Angeles International Airport for Europe on Lufthansa or United.


Day 2: Saturday, May 31– Madrid, Spain
Change planes at the airline’s hub such as Frankfurt or Munich depending on chosen airline and routing. Arrive in Madrid this afternoon or evening. Meet our representative and transfer to your accommodations. Welcome meeting this evening. Dinner included.

Day 3: Sunday, June 1 - Madrid
City tour of Madrid this morning by private motor coach and with local guide, including inside visit to the Palacio Real. You are free the remainder of the day for independent exploration.

Day 4 Day 29: Monday, June 2-- Friday, June 27 - Madrid
In Madrid you will have four weeks of Spanish instruction, Monday through Friday, four hours per day at the Madrid Inforex language institute. Classroom instruction will be enhanced by additional tours within Madrid as well as excursions outside of the city including: Segovia, Toledo, Segobriga and Cuenca, and a four-night excursion to Andalusia.

Day 30: Saturday, June 28– Return to the United States
Say “adiós” to Madrid this morning as you transfer to the Madrid Airport for the return flight to Los Angeles.

Cultural Excursions & Visits

After class hours, the institute frequently organizes recreational and cultural activities that allow students to discover the city of Madrid, its landmarks and its history. All excursions are escorted and professionally guided. Visits to the major museums with all entrance fees are included in the program cost. Additional weekend excursions to Granada, Córdoba, Toledo, Cuenca, and Segovia are also included.

 Accommodation & Transportation
 

Participants will be living with a host family sharing a twin-bed room.

Breakfast and dinners are included. Lunches can be purchased for around
8 Euros at small restaurants near the institute.

Participants will be provided with round-trip air transportation on regularly scheduled airline such as Lufthansa or United from Los Angeles to Madrid in economy class, peak season, weekend travel, apex ticket.

Inforex, where classes are held, is an accredited and highly-qualified language institute. Instructors have university degrees and many years of teaching experience. Classes are kept small to create a better learning environment.

 
 Financial Aid
 
Financial aid and scholarships are available for Long Beach City College students.
The deadline to apply for a scholarship is December 3, 2007.
The deadline to apply for financial aid is May 1, 2008.

Ms. Norma Aguiler

Ms. Aguilera earned her bachelor of art's degree in Spanish in 1997 from California State University, Long Beach, She then continued her graduate studies in Spanish at CSULB earning a masters of art’s degree with an emphasis in Spanish linguistics and peninsular literature in 2000. She was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor’s society in 2000, having graduated at the top five percent of her class in the graduate program.

Ms. Aguilera started teaching as an associate at Cal State Long Beach while completing her graduate studies. For the past eight years, she has been a full-time Spanish teacher at St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower. She has also been teaching at Long Beach City College for five years and recently joined the Spanish department as a part-time faculty member at Los Angeles Harbor College in Wilmington.

Ms. Aguilera is currently completing research at Cal State Long Beach, under the guidance of Spanish Linguist Dr. Maria Carreira, on Spanish Language Acquisition and Spanish Language Maintenance as a Heritage Language.

Ms. Aguilera immigrated to California shortly after her birth in Michoacan, Mexico. She lives in Paramount and is an avid traveler with a passion for learning first-hand about international cultures, cuisines, and languages in a variety of countries. She has traveled to China, Costa Rica, Mexico and Puerto Rico. She is scheduled to leave on May 2008 for Madrid Spain where she will serve as the program director for the Long Beach City College’s Spanish Language Study Abroad program.
